Forest rangers fail to detect chopping down 600 trees along patrol route

The Dak Nong provincial government has just discovered a large-scale deforestation case along the border patrol route, in the area of Bu Chap Border Post, Tuy Duc district. Accordingly, 569 trees with diameters from 12 to 52 cm had been chopped down in the forest area managed by the Border Protection Forest Management Board.

The border patrol route must be the place that the border guards and forest rangers pay the most attention to, are on duty and patrol the most frequently. However, nearly 600 trees were chopped down before being discovered, meaning that no force had been patrolling for a long time. So how will the responsibility be traced? When forest rangers are still getting the full salary from the people’s taxes and fees but do not complete the asigned work for them, causing serious consequences and potentially posing many risks to national security in sensitive areas such as the border.

However, the investigation was expanded to the direction of who cut down the trees without mentioning the responsibility of these forces. Is it true that Vietnamese people have been too easy in paying taxes to support useless forces, who do not need to work but still receive full monthly salaries? When will the people’s hard-earned money be not being wasted on cases like this?
